We've Indeed Come A Long Way: From Progressive Multiculturalism To Regressive Fundamentalism

We have indeed come a long way. From peaceful coexistence to vitriolic conflicting views on girl's attire to literally diminishing the idea of freedom, personal liberty, and choice. From the public funded schools to the colleges, and from the universities to government offices, the religious symbols can be seen throughout, mostly the symbols that signify the cultural hagemony of majority class. The symbols never provoked the minorities to question the establishment regarding the sanctity of a public funded institution because of such endorsements. More precisely, it's never been a problem for the largest minority community or any minorities for that matter. No uproar, no hue and cry. Suddenly, the state realizes to keep the sanctity of the educational institutions intact. The personal choice of a handful of girls reportedly posed a threat to the secular nature of institutions, isn't it rubbish?

It's unfortunate that instead of acting proactively and reprimanding the anarchists subverting the idea of fundamental rights, a constitutional court chose to issue an order that somehow legitimizes the act of religious bigots.

The moral policing and the emergence of cultural fallacy are not the new phenomenon. Every 7 minutes a girl is bullied in virtual space either for choosing bikinis or headscarves. The ghosts of cyber bullying have started surfacing on roads now. Every passing day, the gulf is widening. The division is deepening. The state is playing and the people are watching. This invasive seed was sown long ago by the ruling dispensation. The people were chosen to water it for its rapid growth. From the progressive multiculturalism to the regressive fundamentalism, we have indeed come a long way, but on the wrong path. We all shall pay for it one day sooner or later, if it's left unchecked and we don't act now.
